I’m Meghan Maloney
Based in Cambridge Waikato, and working throughout New Zealand.
I'm Meghan Maloney, an award-winning New Zealand landscape photographer, Sony Digital Imaging Ambassador and photography educator.
I lead small-group photography workshops in New Zealand and internationally, create fine-art landscape imagery and teach photographers through my online photography courses.
Head over heels in love with New Zealand
The more I explore New Zealand, the more I fall in love with our country. I'm happiest outdoors with my camera, chasing beautiful light, dramatic skies, waterfalls, reflections and those fleeting moments that make landscape photography so rewarding.
My photography journey began after several years of writing a family blog, when I realised that what I loved most was being outdoors capturing New Zealand's incredible landscapes.
I've since travelled extensively throughout the country - from the top of Northland to the Catlins in the deep south - photographing New Zealand in every season and all kinds of conditions.
Today, one of the things I enjoy most is sharing those experiences with others. Whether that's through my photography, teaching or spending time in the landscape with other photographers, I want to inspire people to experience the beauty of New Zealand for themselves - and to create images they're proud of.

Sony Photographer Features
In 2020, I worked on an exciting new campaign with Sony to promote the flagship A7R series of full-frame cameras and their top of the range G Master lenses (I shoot with the a7RV currently).
It was an honour to be chosen as the only New Zealander and female on this new campaign which features the work of 6 photographers from across Australia and New Zealand with my contribution to the campaign here.
During 2020-2022, I was also a judge in the Landscape Category of the Sony Alpha AU/NZ awards, and it was a thrill to see the amazingly talented photographers we have submitting incredible work in the competition. In 2025, I was again selected as Head Judge of the Landscape Category of the awards.
In 2023, I also represented Sony as a Photography Guide on the Antarctic Intrepid Travel Photography Program - returning with my own group tour in February 2025.
Here's the facts
Ten fun facts you might not know about me!
1. I'm an incessant hair twirler - if you've met me you'll know just how bad my habit actually is!
2. I'm a football mum - winter weekends are spent sideline cheering my two teenage boys on
3. I can shuffle cards like a Las Vegas dealer - it's quite the party trick
4. I love Jesus and my one desire is that everything I do brings him glory
5. My brother once took ex-Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to dinner - true fact!
6. I cannot live without.....coffee, smoothies, and gin.
7. My collarbones can partially dislocate - it looks as gross as it sounds
8. There's actually no H in my name on my birth certificate - it was a rebel move when I was 14 and I still haven't got around to officially changing it!
9. I once played a clarinet solo to Memory from Cats in the Auckland Town Hall in front of a lot of people when I was twelve. I was absolutely bricking it!
10. My hubby and I share the same birthday on April 10 - it still feels weird even after 20+ years together!
