Fiordland is known for its dramatic mountain cliffs, crystal clear rivers and powerful waterfalls while Queenstown is home to stunning lakes with amazing mountain backdrops, and lush NZ beech forest. You will experience and capture it all on this 5-day journey taking in all the best sights while learning how to take your photography to the next level!
What you'll experience
We'll teach you how to use simple techniques to improve your composition, master your camera's settings and use filters to enhance the images you capture. We'll help you perfect more advanced techniques such as focus stacking and exposure bracketing to improve your results when photographing challenging landscape and astro scenes. You'll also learn how to take the potential from your RAW images and turn it into an image that will wow you through the use of both Lightroom and Photoshop. And of course we'll have a ton of fun and adventures along the way too.

Friday 23rd September to Tuesday 27th September 2022

Friday 2pm

The workshop will commence at 2pm at Pinewood Lodge in Queenstown. If you need a pick up from Queenstown Airport, this will be available at approximately 12pm.

We will have an introduction session to the weekend before heading out to shoot sunset in the Queenstown area. We will decide on the exact location on the day based on weather conditions in the area.

Queenstown Landscape Photography Workshop

After dinner if the skies are clear, we will either shoot star trails or an astro panorama later in the evening.

Moke Lake Astro Panorama

Sunrise will be at one of the many scenic lakeside locations along Lake Wakatipu.

After breakfast back at the lodge, we head south to Fiordland, spending our day taking in all the incredible sights along the road to Milford Sound, including waterfalls, mirror reflections, towering mountains, and hopefully capturing a cheeky kea or two at Homer Tunnel along the way.

Milford Sound Landscape Photography Workshop

After an afternoon editing session at Milford Sound Lodge where we'll be based for two nights, we'll head out and shoot sunset at Milford Sound foreshore, watching the last light of day sink behind Mitre Peak. We'll eat dinner at the lodge, and then spend the night shooting an astro panorama or editing depending on the weather.

We'll greet the day with sunrise back at the foreshore, before enjoying a full day exploring the Fiordland area. With beech forest, pristine lakes and crystal clear rivers to explore, this day will be jam packed with the jaw-dropping scenery that Fiordland is famous for. We'll also take a 2 hour scenic cruise on Milford Sound to get up close and personal with the towering peaks and waterfalls in the fiord.

Milford Sound Photography Workshop

In the afternoon, we'll return to Milford Sound Lodge to shoot sunset again in the foreshore area, and enjoy dinner at the Lodge before trying our hand at astrophotography again later in the evening or taking the time to edit our shots.

After shooting sunrise at another location close to the Lodge, we'll enjoy our final breakfast here before heading back along the Milford Road, exploring other locations that we haven't yet visited or returning to shoot others previously visited in different lights.

Milford Sound Landscape Photography Workshop

After returning to Pinewood Lodge, we'll enjoy an editing session before heading out to a new location for sunset based both on weather and group choice. If the skies are clear, we'll also shoot star trails after dark.

Queenstown Landscape Photography Workshop

Tuesday 2pm

Our final morning will be spent out at Glenorchy for sunrise, and then shooting a photogenic waterfall on our way back to Queenstown. We'll spend the remainder of the morning wrapping up the workshop and enjoying a final lunch together before everyone heads home, bursting with new knowledge and great images!

Queenstown Landscape Photography Workshop

Note: This is an approximate itinerary only and will change based on weather conditions on the day, so it is possible that not all locations listed will be visited. If shoots can't proceed due to adverse weather, we will use the time to go over more complex editing tools.

Craig - Matamata

Meghan's workshop is a great mix of useful skills and fundamental concepts as well as lots of fun. Meghan is such a lovely person that would like to share anything that you will be happy to spend two full days with her. The workshop helped me a lot.

Lily - China

Having followed Meghan and her captivating portrayal of New Zealand’s landscape on instagram for over 5 years, I’ve finally had the opportunity to join her 5-week online live photography course. Meghan has a gift to explain the “how to” of landscape photography in a very clear, easy to understand and enjoyable manner. Her depth of knowledge in every aspect will prove a more than worthwhile investment for anyone who enjoys this form of photography,  whether novice or experienced.

David - Christchurch

Real, honest, down to earth and very talented photographer. Very helpful with all the little things, takes time to explain information and makes sure it is understood. Just completed an online Zoom photography course which was well run and incredibly informative..

Robbie - Australia

Meghan is an amazing tutor. Her effective communication and course outline was exactly what I was looking for. I bought my first camera a few weeks before this course and lucky enough this course covered camera settings and composition which every beginner looks forward to.  From looking after your gear, settings, pro tips, composition and editing, this course was every beginners dream come true. I look forward to the next stage of this course and mind you this was quite affordable and full of knowledge. I have become a better photographer. Thank you and I look forward to more content from you.

Ash - Queenstown

Meghan is not only an awesome photographer but a wonderful teacher. I love her delivery style and this course is a great introduction to landscape photography. Meghan is also very encouraging and is very open and detailed with sharing her knowledge during her classes. The course structure was well thought out and presented in easy to digest modules. I look forward to learning more from Meghan as she grows her class schedule. Highly recommend!

Lystra - UK

Meghan has been the most helpful and caring photographer I have had the pleasure to meet, she has that special quality (and patience) that very few are blessed with to be the perfect teacher and along with her amazing photography is a mentor to us all... I have been so privileged to have her assistance on my learning journey, something I will be forever grateful for...

Robyn -  Otago

Totally amazing time with Meghan.  Her knowledge is amazing and the willingness to teach is fantastic. I never thought i could learn so much in such a short time but I did. I highly recommend Meghan to anyone wanting to learn and develop their skills. I cant wait to work with Meghan again soon.
