Overview

This all-encompassing photography weekend workshop (co-hosted with Rachel Gillespie) will provide you with all the photography skills you need from the minute you pick up your camera to shoot in the outdoors right through to printing your best work. Learn from two of NZ’s top-rated professional photographers over this full immersion weekend designed to help you develop your skills in every area you need to succeed as a landscape photographer.

What you'll experience

We’ll help you learn what’s required to capture an outstanding landscape image from settings to lighting and composition. We’ll also cover best practice processes for successfully managing your image library, how to edit your images to fully realise their raw potential. We'll take you right through to the process of successfully printing your best work and sharing it online, and you'll take home a fine art print of your best image from the weekend.

Your Hosts

Meghan Maloney

I'm a full-time landscape photographer, and my greatest passion is helping you discover your photography potential through photography adventures around New Zealand. Whether it's teaching you the art of capturing beautiful images with the help of filters, helping you to transform your raw images into stunning works of art in Lightroom, learning how to improve your workflow, or simply having a grand adventure together in amazing places, you will come away from my workshops filled with new knowledge and skills, not to mention amazing memories.

When not photographing and educating, I'm a mum to two teenage boys and I spend my time sideline supporting their football endeavours, and finding places to go hiking in NZ's outdoors.

"Meghan is an amazing photographer who is very passionate about her art. I attended a 1:1 two day landscape workshop course with her in June 2023. It was a totally amazing experience. She is an excellent teacher who imparts all the nuances and finer points of her craft that I was able to absorb well without feeling overwhelmed. The knowledge and insight I got from my time with her is something I could not have got from reading or watching instruction videos. A Meghan Maloney led course is a must for anyone interested in landscape photography. She will cater for people with all levels of abilities. She is an excellent communicator and an overall lovely person. Highly recommended!"

"Just completed an 8 day workshop with Meghan and it was an experience of a lifetime. Meghan's knowledge of the area ensured that we always had something to shoot, even on the bad weather days. Meghan is also very generous with her photographic knowledge and is always eager to help out with compositions or camera settings. Can highly recommend."

"I have just returned from a four day workshop with Meghan, and I'm still buzzing. Unfortunately the original workshop booked to photograph autumn colours in the Hawkes Bay had to be cancelled due to the cyclone that went through. However I was not disappointed with the relocation and later date to Rotorua at all. With Meghan's guidance I was able to take my first every astro shot, spend time in the redwoods, visit locations I'd never been to, and discover lots of tips and information to help me improve my shots. Meghan is both patient and flexible in finding new locations in rapidly changing weather conditions. Highly recommend a workshop with her. Can't wait to do another!"
