Overview
Join me and co-host Laurie Winter as we explore and capture the volcanic heart of the North Island encompassing an amazing variety of landscapes. From snowcapped mountains to lush beech forests, and impressive waterfalls to barren alpine desert views, this is a region that will surprise you with its beauty. The Central Plateau is also one of NZ's premiere astrophotography locations with very little light pollution, allowing us to capture the night sky in all its glory.
What you'll experience
You'll learn how to use a variety of landscape photography and astrophotography techniques to showcase all the different landscapes we'll see - from exposure bracketing to focus stacking, using ND filters to best effect and getting to know your camera's settings even more intimately. We'll teach you how to shoot astrophotography images including multi-image panoramas. In our editing sessions, you'll also learn how to take the potential from your RAW images to create images that will wow you! And of course we'll have a ton of fun and adventures along the way too.

Thursday 5th - Sunday 8th September 2024

Thursday 5th September 2024

We'll meet at the accommodation in Turangi at 2pm. There will be transport available from Hamilton Airport leaving at 10am that morning if you prefer to fly. We'll do an intro session and head out to shoot sunset, and if skies are clear after dark, we'll aim to shoot a Milky Way panorama over the mountains.

Friday 6th September - Saturday 7th September 2024

We have a vast array of photography locations available to explore over the next 3 days in the area - the exact locations visited will depend on the weather conditions. More info will be provided in the itinerary approximately 6 weeks before the workshop. There are so many incredible mountain vistas to shoot from the roads in the region, and below is a small selection of the amazing and varied landscapes we can visit in the region.

Sunday 8th September 2024

After a final sunrise shoot and wrap-up session, we'll finish up with a group brunch finishing up approximately 11am - allowing time to return to Hamilton for any mid afternoon flight departures.

Having followed Meghan and her captivating portrayal of New Zealand’s landscape on instagram for over 5 years, I’ve finally had the opportunity to join her 5-week online live photography course. Meghan has a gift to explain the “how to” of landscape photography in a very clear, easy to understand and enjoyable manner. Her depth of knowledge in every aspect will prove a more than worthwhile investment for anyone who enjoys this form of photography,  whether novice or experienced.

David - Christchurch

Real, honest, down to earth and very talented photographer. Very helpful with all the little things, takes time to explain information and makes sure it is understood. Just completed an online Zoom photography course which was well run and incredibly informative..

Robbie - Australia

Meghan is an amazing tutor. Her effective communication and course outline was exactly what I was looking for. I bought my first camera a few weeks before this course and lucky enough this course covered camera settings and composition which every beginner looks forward to.  From looking after your gear, settings, pro tips, composition and editing, this course was every beginners dream come true. I look forward to the next stage of this course and mind you this was quite affordable and full of knowledge. I have become a better photographer. Thank you and I look forward to more content from you.

Ash - Queenstown

Meghan is not only an awesome photographer but a wonderful teacher. I love her delivery style and this course is a great introduction to landscape photography. Meghan is also very encouraging and is very open and detailed with sharing her knowledge during her classes. The course structure was well thought out and presented in easy to digest modules. I look forward to learning more from Meghan as she grows her class schedule. Highly recommend!

Meghan has been the most helpful and caring photographer I have had the pleasure to meet, she has that special quality (and patience) that very few are blessed with to be the perfect teacher and along with her amazing photography is a mentor to us all... I have been so privileged to have her assistance on my learning journey, something I will be forever grateful for...
