Overview
Explore and capture Taranaki, the amazing region of NZ which lives up to its 'like no other' tagline. Taranaki has an incredible variety of scenery to experience - mountain vistas, tranquil lakes, unique coastal seascapes and lush forest and river scenes. Having visited this area my whole life, I know it well and it will be my pleasure to share all the best photography spots with you! With only 3 places available on the workshop, your learning will benefit from this small group experience.
What you'll experience
On this 4-day, 3 night workshop, you'll learn how to master your camera's settings so that shooting in manual and using your camera's tools is a breeze. I'll share tips on how to improve your composition for any situation and show you how filters will enhance the images you capture. There will also be opportunities to learn more advanced techniques such as focus stacking and exposure bracketing which will make a real difference to your results. Then we'll spend time editing in Lightroom (and Photoshop) showing you how you can transform your RAW data into breathtaking final images.
Course Itinerary

Thursday 29 May to Sunday 1 June 2025

Thursday 29 May 2025

Transport will leave at 10.00am from Cambridge/Hamilton and a pick up is also available at New Plymouth Airport around 1pm. If you prefer to travel directly to the workshop accommodation, you will need to be at the AirBnB by 2.00pm.

Upon arrival, we will have an introduction to the weekend before heading out to shoot sunset.

Friday 30 May 2025 - Saturday 31 May 2025

Over the course of the weekend we will explore and photograph an amazing variety of scenery throughout the Taranaki region utilising the conditions available to choose the best locations for each shoot. If the skies are clear, we will also find some unique locations to shoot astrophotography during the weekend.

Due to the extremely changeable conditions in Taranaki, we cannot guarantee that we will see the mountain during the weekend, however running the workshop over 4 days gives us the best possible chance to experience clear skies for some of the time. Taranaki is home to many incredible locations that don't require the mountain in frame so there will be plenty to photograph even without the mountain in view.

We will also incorporate editing sessions during the weekend to maximise your knowledge and learning of the best post-processing techniques in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Sunday 1 June 2025

After a final sunrise session and group breakfast, the workshop will conclude at approx 12pm to allow everyone to travel home.

To see more of the possible locations we'll visit, you can also check out my 10 Must-See places to photograph in Taranaki.

Having followed Meghan and her captivating portrayal of New Zealand’s landscape on instagram for over 5 years, I’ve finally had the opportunity to join her 5-week online live photography course. Meghan has a gift to explain the “how to” of landscape photography in a very clear, easy to understand and enjoyable manner. Her depth of knowledge in every aspect will prove a more than worthwhile investment for anyone who enjoys this form of photography,  whether novice or experienced.

David - Christchurch

Real, honest, down to earth and very talented photographer. Very helpful with all the little things, takes time to explain information and makes sure it is understood. Just completed an online Zoom photography course which was well run and incredibly informative..

Robbie - Australia

Meghan is an amazing tutor. Her effective communication and course outline was exactly what I was looking for. I bought my first camera a few weeks before this course and lucky enough this course covered camera settings and composition which every beginner looks forward to.  From looking after your gear, settings, pro tips, composition and editing, this course was every beginners dream come true. I look forward to the next stage of this course and mind you this was quite affordable and full of knowledge. I have become a better photographer. Thank you and I look forward to more content from you.

Ash - Queenstown

Meghan is not only an awesome photographer but a wonderful teacher. I love her delivery style and this course is a great introduction to landscape photography. Meghan is also very encouraging and is very open and detailed with sharing her knowledge during her classes. The course structure was well thought out and presented in easy to digest modules. I look forward to learning more from Meghan as she grows her class schedule. Highly recommend!

Meghan has been the most helpful and caring photographer I have had the pleasure to meet, she has that special quality (and patience) that very few are blessed with to be the perfect teacher and along with her amazing photography is a mentor to us all... I have been so privileged to have her assistance on my learning journey, something I will be forever grateful for...
